Text: Jeremiah 1:4-5 (NKJV).

4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

5 “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; Before you were born, I sanctified you;

I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

The Message

 The Big Plan

We are wonderfully and carefully made. (Psalm 139:14). The bigger a project, the longer and more detailed the plan will be. Man is God’s biggest project. God spoke every other creature into existence, but when it came to making man, He called for a meeting to plan for him. (Genesis 1:26). God has a good plan for you and I. (Jeremiah 29:11). God told Prophet Jeremiah that before he was formed in the  womb, he knew him and before he was born, he had sanctified and called him. The parents are therefore the channels through which he came to fulfill God’s purpose.This shows that the baby a woman carries in her womb  is not part of her body that she can do anything she wants with, as some claim. What if the parents refused to give birth to him by way of aborting the pregnancy? God is omnipotent and omniscient, so He knows how He will fulfill His purpose. But I believe the perpetrator will not go unpunished.

Our Maker had already written the script of our lives before we got here. Our main focus when we get to this part of eternity is to make sure we know the will of God and be able to act the script He has written concerning us. It is part of parental duty to help children identify God’s purpose for their lives, by praying for them, even  long before they were born and giving them godly counsels. Rebekah’s decision to support Jacob, rather than Esau, in getting the Abrahamic covenant, is not unconnected with the spiritual scanning she did when the twins were still in the womb. The result of the scanning shows: “Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body;One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.” (Gen 25:23).

God already had you in His Will before you were born.  He has a big plan for you. It does not matter what the plan of the enemies is, the plan of God will be fulfilled in your life. With God, delay is not denial. The enemies may try to delay the fulfillment of God’s purpose for your life, like that of Joseph, whose brother did not bow to him until fourteen years after the dream. (Genesis 42:6;50:18). It took David over twenty years to be king over Israel after he was initially anointed king. But they all got there at God’s appointed time. I pray for you today that you will get to your throne. You will fulfill God’s purpose. You will accomplish God’s big plan.  Jeremiah felt he did not have the capacity to accomplish God’s purpose. He complained of being a child that could not talk. But God touched his month to enable him and gave him assurance (Jeremiah 1:9-10). God will empower you to accomplish His purpose.

Confession

I will accomplish God’s big plan for my life.

Prayer

Father, please touch my life and enable me to accomplish your purpose.

Reflection

 We will act our script better if we allow the Writer to be the Director.
