Text: ‭‭‭‭ Matthew 4 (NKJV).
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”.
The Message
The Pursuit of God: Living by His Word V.
One of the best ways to pursue God is to learn from Him by listening, meditating and doing everything in His word. It is our yielding to His teaching and leading in order to do His will that legitimate our followership. We cannot pursue God without knowing and living by His word. The word of God is the inspiration of God, and therefore cannot be separated from God. The word of God is both Jesus Christ (John 1:1-3) and is also the written (logos) or spoken word. (Rhema). The word of God is the creative power of God. (Genesis 1:1-28). The whole creation was made by His word. We can also create by his word. His words are Spirit and Life. (John 6:63). His words are yes and Amen. (2 Corinthians 1:20).

We pursue God through His word because His word is profitable, and equips us unto perfection. (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The word of God is powerful and life-giving (Hebrew 4:12-13). We are cleansed by His word. (Ephesians 5:26, John 15:3, John 17:17). The word of God is the constitution of the Kingdom (John 12:47). In the word of God we have eternal life (John 5:39). It is a deterrent against sin – obedience to the word of God is an antidote to sin. (Psalm 119:11; Psalm 119:9). It is the constitution of the Kingdom by which all the citizens are ruled. Knowing His word relieves us from being in any kingdom’s constitutional crises.

It is unfortunate that one of the endtime signs is the rejection of the word of God. People no longer want the word of God. people no longer want to be told what to do – not even God. The christians of today are running away from sound doctrines. Some church members only want the preachers to preach what they want to hear. Some follow social media to get strange doctrines. They have developed itching ears.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; (2 Timothy 4:3).
But if you want to pursue God, you must live by every word that proceeds out of His mouth.

Confession
I will live by your word, all the days of my life.
Prayer
Father, please help me to always abide by your word.

Reflection
The word of God is given to you in life, but shall be opened to you in death.
It is given to you for guidance and correction but shall be opened to you in judgement
